Hello peeps!
We recently read that the habits you are acquire during your 20s are likely to follow us for the rest of your life. It made us question some things we must say, haha!
But overall, Nicolas and I lead quite a healthy lifestyle, healthier than a few years ago. And I can state with some certainty that it is because of Nicolas’ diagnosis of type-1-diabetes (you can read more about this topic in this previous post).
So here we are sharing our best healthy habits with you guys.
1 – We drink enough. Mostly water, almost never sugary drinks except for smoothies or freshly pressed juices.
2 – We do not drink alcohol. Almost never, unless it is in special circumstances, but even there we do not necessarily do.
3 – We get enough sleep. This is an unmissable one! We cannot overstate the importance of sleeping enough. Respect your body, provide it with enough sleep. Sleeping has very important functions: maintaining your immunity; clear up the toxines in your brain; helping you consolidate memories (aka learn)…
4 – We walk a lot, on a daily basis, even on a tight schedule. We squeeze it into our schedule, like walking from the train station to the university.
5 – We eat healthy. Lots of vegetables, fruits. We avoid saturated fats most of the time (but sometimes cannot resist a piece of chocolate cake ;)), and privilegiate unsaturated fats (as in all sorts of nuts except peanuts).
We quitted eating meat and fish two years ago and it was one damn healthy decision.
There is still one thing I would like to change (Claire): do more sport! 😉 What are your own tips for a healthy lifestyle?

Récemment, nous avons lu que les habitudes que l’on prend durant notre vingtaine vont très probablement nous suivre pour le restant de nos jours. Cela nous a fait remettre en doute quelques trucs, j’avoue haha!
Toutefois, dans l’ensemble, Nicolas et moi menons un train de vie plutôt sain, plus sain que quelques années en arrière. D’ailleurs, c’est très certainement lié au diagnostic de diabète de type 1 de Nicolas (vous pouvez lire davantage à ce sujet dans ce post).
Alors voici les meilleurs habitudes santé que nous avons à partager avec vous.
1 – Nous buvons suffisamment. Presque essentiellement de l’eau et presque jamais de boissons sucrées sauf des smoothies ou des jus frais pressés.
2 – Nous ne consommons pas d’alcool. Presque jamais, à moins que ce soit une occasion très spéciale, et encore.
3 – Nous dormons suffisamment. C’est indispensable! Il est impossible de dire à quel point c’est important. Respectez votre corps, fournissez-lui assez de sommeil et il vous le rendra bien. Le sommeil a des fonctions essentielles au bon fonctionnement du corps, telles que le bon fonctionnement du système immunitaire, le nettoyage des toxines dans le cerveau, la consolidation de la mémoire (utile à l’apprentissage)…
4 – Nous marchons beaucoup, quotidiennement, même avec un horaire serré. Nous nous efforçons de prendre le temps de le faire, en marchant de la gare à l’université par exemple.
5 – Nous mangeons sainement. OK c’est vague, mais globalement beaucoup de légumes et de fruits, nous évitons les graisses saturées la plupart du temps (mais ne résistons parfois pas à une tranche de gâteau au chocolat ;)) et nous privilégions les graisses insaturées (présentes dans toutes sortes d’oléagineux sauf les cacahuètes).
D’ailleurs, nous avons pris la décision il y a de cela presque trois ans et sommes très satisfaits de ce choix.
Il y a quand même un élément que j’aimerais changer (Claire) : faire plus de sport! 😉 Et vous, quels sont vos incontournables en matière de mode de vie sain?

Really understand what you mean and me too I live very healthy. No alcohol, a lot of sports, especially during summer time, healthy food and also yoga for my inner freedom and life balance.
The only problem I have is less sleep every night. Only around 6 hours… but I am too busy to sleep longer…

This is a rather exhaustive list! IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU two are ALREADY MAKING VERY GOOD LIFESTYLE CHOICES. Additionally, I personally think getting a bit of extra muscle training or exercise in is always good in order to prevent problems like osteoporosis, etc. when getting older 🙂
