What is the HEAD?
The HEAD is the Geneva School of Art and Design, which offers education at university level. It was founded in 2006 when two very old art schools merged together. Today, they offer a very broad range of studies, including cinema, architecture, fashion, media design and much more. The HEAD is the biggest art school you will find in Geneva, and is in its field amongst the best schools of Switzerland and even in the world. The school itself has many buildings, scattered across the city. The fashion show took place in the Espace Hippomène, a huge and modern place which is the HEAD’s latest building.
La HEAD, c’est quoi?
La HEAD est la Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design de Genève. Cette école, de niveau universitaire, a été fondée en 2006 lors de la fusion de deux écoles plus anciennes. Aujourd’hui, on peut y étudier le cinéma, l’architecture, la mode, le media design et bien plus encore. La HEAD est la plus grande école d’art de Genève. C’est une des meilleures écoles du genre au niveau Suisse et même mondial. Les bâtiments de l’école sont dispersés dans toute la ville de Genève. Le défilé a eu lieu à l’Espace Hippomène, le bâtiment le plus récent de la HEAD, immense et très moderne.
Backstage life
A huge Thank you to the Bal des Créateurs, who made it possible for us to experience this show backstage. Backstage life is truly fascinating. It is just amazing how much work and effort comes from everyone in order to make the event possible. There is the hair team (Le Bal des Créateurs), the make up team (MAC Cosmetics), the people responsible for the light, for the music and for filming, and there are all the models trying out their outfits and preparing for the walk. And last but not least, there are all the students and teachers who are at the root of this event.
En backstage
Un grand merci au Bal des Créateurs, sans qui il n’aurait pas été possible pour nous de vivre l’expérience en backstage. Le backstage, c’est un autre monde. C’est fou tout le travail et l’énergie que chacun met pour rendre le défilé possible. Il y a les coiffeurs (Le Bal des Créateurs), les maquilleurs (MAC Cosmetics), les responsables de l’éclairage, de la musique, de la vidéo, et il y a tous les mannequins essayant leur tenue et s’entrainant à défiler. Finalement, il y a aussi tous les étudiants et enseignants qui sont, ne l’oublions, à l’origine de cet immense événement.

The Fashion Show – Bits and pieces
For Nicolas and I, the HEAD fashion show was the second big event of this kind that we attended. Last time was Mode Suisse, of which you can read more right here. Now, regarding the outfits that were shown at the show, it is really hard for us to say which we preferred. Truly, I think each and every student there made an incredible work. Perhaps we could cite Lucile Drai’s, Irina Terekhova’s, Marie-Eve Lecavalier’s and Flore Girard de Langlade’s works that we loved particularly. Everything was so original, and some pieces looked like they could have come from another world. This is so refreshing to attend a show featuring creations from students because they are still in school and can express as much creativity as they want. But enough from our side. I bet you would like to see some outfits, so here they are!
Le Défilé – Extraits
Pour Nicolas et moi, c’est la seconde fois après Mode Suisse que nous assistons à un événement mode d’une telle envergure. Si cela vous intéresse, vous trouverez l’article sur Mode Suisse ici. Entrons maintenant dans le cœur du sujet. Il est vraiment difficile pour nous de dire ce que nous avons préféré. Chaque étudiant a fourni un travail incroyable. Nous avons particulièrement aimé les créations de Lucile Drai, d’Irina Terekhova de Marie-Eve Lecavalier et de Flore Girard de Langlade. Mais ne nous leurrons pas, tout était génial et rempli d’originalité. Certaines tenues semblaient tout simplement provenir d’un autre monde. C’est sûrement parce qu’en tant qu’étudiants, les créateurs ont une très grande liberté artistique, pour notre plus grand plaisir. Bon, il est temps de vous montrer quelques créations, les voici!
